Travertine Tiles

What is Travertine?

Travertine is a very elegant and earthy stone to have in your home. It is a form of limestone, and is related to marble. It actually falls about halfway between marble and limestone. Travertine is made from limestone that has been mixed with crystallised minerals. It is made in hot springs, similarly to how limestone is made in cool waters and is formed by a process where calcium carbonate rapidly precipitates, often at the opening of a hot spring or a limestone cave.

Travertine is coloured white, tan, cream and sometimes even a rust or red colour. This type of material would suit a home that is modern, minimalistic or timeless. Travertine creates a natural and elegant atmosphere in any room or area in the home.

Travertine floors are a fantastic choice for your home and can retain its beauty for a long time if cared for properly. These tiles are non-slip and make it easy to walk on – great for floors! Travertine is very porous, so it can be difficult to clean by hand. Our travertine cleaning service will easily remove any stains from your travertine tile, and we can also seal your travertine tiles using our specialised travertine sealing process. Our Travertine tile cleaning and restoration services

Travertine cleaning: To deep clean travertine tiles, we like to use a high-pressure extraction and scrubbing machine filled with hot water and an environmentally friendly degreaser. Read more about our travertine cleaning and travertine resurfacing process here.

Travertine grinding and travertine polishing: When grinding and polishing your travertine tiles, we always begin with grinding. In this step, we remove any damaged material on the surface of the tile. We then move on to travertine polishing to remove any excess material and to produce the best possible planeness. Read more about our grinding and polishing and travertine honing process here.

Travertine sealing: Travertine sealing is used to protect the tile and the grout from absorbing any stains, oxidation, and from regular wear and tear. Read more about our travertine sealing process here.

Re-grouting: Regrouting is the removal of old grout and the installation of new grouting, which we usually recommend when old grout begins to deteriorate and discolour. Read more about our re-grouting process here.
